
This striking two-story cantilevered structure now stands as a modern tribute to Te Pūhara o Turitea, the historic watchtower once used by Rangitāne to safeguard their lands.
Designed to blend history, architecture, and landscape, the lookout offers panoramic views of the Manawatū River and surrounding whenua. It’s more than just a viewpoint – it’s a place of reflection, storytelling, and connection.
It was a great collaboration with Jason Pilkington from the Palmerston North City Council and local Iwi Rangitāne.
