All Saint's Gates Project

C&R Engineering Ltd was commissioned by Colspec Construction in conjunction with the All Saints Church to manufacture and install new sliding security gates for the driveway, new child safety gates for that play area of the church, and refurbish and re-instate a pair of existing wrought iron gates manufactured way back in 1928.

The existing wrought iron gates we extensively damaged from a number of collisions with vehicles over the years. Firstly we had to sand blast them back to bare metal. Following this we had to replace a number of scrolls and side bars, and form a new way of mounting the gates as the original system was no longer going to work. Once this was done we sent them away to be fully hot dip galvanised, originally wrought iron gates were not galvanised. Following this process the gates were cleaned up and powdercoated satin black. As you can see from the photos the gates look great and are now a functional pair of gates.

The other big tasked we were set on this project was Manawatu’s first fully automated telescopic set of gates. As the driveway was wider then the area allowed to have the gate sliding into the gate had to concertina. With help from The Gate Man gate automation this was achieved and to the total satisfaction of the church.
